Use Voice Chat
Have a hands-free voice conversation with Crafty AI — speak naturally and hear responses aloud.
Voice Chat is a full conversation mode where you speak, Crafty listens, thinks, and replies out loud. The loop continues naturally until you end the call. This is different from Voice Input, which only transcribes your speech into the text box.
Steps
- Open Crafty AI.
- Click the voice conversation button in the chat header (phone icon).
- Choose a personality for the call:
- Crafty — Warm and bubbly
- Professional — Clear and business-focused
- Creative — Imaginative and playful
- Mentor — Patient and encouraging
- Chill — Relaxed and laid-back
- Click Start Conversation and allow microphone access when prompted.
- Speak naturally. Crafty automatically detects when you stop talking, transcribes your words, and responds aloud.
- To interrupt Crafty mid-speech, simply start talking — it will stop and listen to you.
- Click End Conversation or press Escape to finish the call.
How it works
Voice Activity Detection (VAD) automatically senses when you start and stop speaking. Your speech is transcribed to text, sent to Crafty, and the AI response is spoken back to you through text-to-speech. The conversation messages are saved to your chat history so you can review them later.
Tips
- Use a headset for the best experience — it prevents echo and improves voice detection accuracy.
- Choose Professional for work discussions, Creative for brainstorming, or Chill for casual chat.
- Responses are kept short and conversational in voice mode. Ask follow-ups for more detail.
- After about 40 turns, Crafty may suggest starting a fresh chat to maintain accuracy.
Troubleshooting
- Voice detection not loading? Refresh the page and try again.
- No response after speaking? Check that microphone permissions are enabled in your browser settings.
- Audio not playing? Make sure your device volume is up and no other app is using the speaker exclusively.
- Rate limit message? Wait a moment and try again, or upgrade your plan at Pricing.
